What To Expect
Gentle And Effective Chiropractic Care
In a few ways, the idea of chiropractic care is not so different from building a house. For a house to withstand time and the elements, it needs to be built in a certain order, so you’ll need to build the foundation before putting up the walls or adding a roof. Since your body is a host of interconnected systems, certain aspects of chiropractic treatment need to be attended to first in order to create proper healing and true long-term health.
When it comes to chiropractic care, there are three general phases:
- Relief Care – Most people initially seek treatment due to pain or discomfort. That’s why the first thing we’ll do is take steps to reduce or remove pain from your everyday life. Depending on the severity of the pain, a typical patient should plan on 2-3 appointments per week for 4-12 weeks.
- Corrective/Restorative Care – During this phase, muscles and other connective tissues are encouraged to heal more thoroughly. This prevents further pain, reduces the chances of injury, and helps to bring your body back to 100 percent functionality. Depending on the severity of health issues, patients should expect appointments 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months.
- Wellness Care – At this point, your body should be fully healed and you shouldn’t be experiencing any recurring pain. However, periodic chiropractic adjustments are important in order to prevent future problems. Depending on the health goals and lifestyle of the patient, brief appointments should take place 1-4 times per month.
